The History
Red Rocks Amphitheatre was sacred to the Ute tribe before European settlers entered its area. Musicians first started performing here during early 1900s on temporary platforms set up between Ship Rock and Creation Rock (formerly Stage Rock). Red Rocks offers musicians an unmatched acoustics thanks to its granite monoliths; music lovers still hail Red Rocks concerts today for its unparalleled sound.
Red Rocks Amphitheatre was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1936. Although construction took 12 years, Red Rocks has become an iconic venue ever since its completion.
